OUR Mission
The Soli Deo Gloria Brass Band mission is rooted deeply in our Christian Faith. As our Lord Jesus Christ called us in The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20), we have answered that call and established two main objectives for our organization.
First and foremost, as Christians we are called to be a light in this world and to “walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8), “so that [others] may see [our] good works and give glory to [our] Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). This is a principal pillar in our mission here at SDG that drives not only our activities but also our attitudes and actions as we seek to serve our Lord. The motivation behind our motto (bringing our best offering before God), is not one which seeks success defined in terms of popular recognition, monetary gains, or other self-serving rewards. Instead, our goal is to offer God our best in servitude and be a light for those around us. Our hope and prayer, as we perform in local, national, and international venues, is that all who hear and see us, also have the opportunity to hear the Good News and receive the gift of Salvation!
The second pillar and founding principle of our mission is the commandment that Jesus Christ gave to his disciples: “love one another” (John 13:34-35). Jesus notes that this is also a distinguishing characteristic “by which all people will know that you are my disciples.” In applying this to our SDG mission, we established as our second primary objective the strengthening and encouraging of existing Christian communities. Through our work in local churches, communities, and visits abroad, we look to “stir up one another to love and good works,” and to “encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:23-25).
From serving and encouraging others in local church ministries to large public performances, no opportunity is too small or too large for the Soli Deo Gloria Brass Band to fulfill its mission and calling. Our hope and prayer is that in everything we do, we give Glory to God Alone! (SOLI DEO GLORIA!)
